Congratulations on being selected for the Moody Gardens Internship Program. You are joining a dynamic learning environment designed to give college students real-world experience inside one of the most unique hospitality and educational destinations in the country. With participation from more than 20 departments, this program allows you to explore multiple career paths while contributing to meaningful work that supports our mission.
Our interns come from diverse academic backgrounds with interests in hospitality, marine biology, animal care, hotel and restaurant management, revenue and reservations, information technology, marketing, events, sales, and more. Throughout your internship, you will gain hands-on experience, learn from experienced professionals, and build practical skills that will support your future career goals.
Located on Galveston Island just minutes from the beach, Moody Gardens offers more than professional development — it provides a memorable coastal summer experience. You will have the opportunity to balance career growth with island living, making your time here both rewarding and enjoyable.

Hotel Internship
The Moody Gardens Hotel Internship is designed to give interns a comprehensive understanding of how a full-service hotel operates at the management level. Rather than focusing on a single department, interns rotate through multiple hotel divisions, working alongside department leaders to observe, learn, and participate in daily operations.
Throughout the rotation, interns gain exposure to key areas such as front office operations, guest services, housekeeping, food and beverage coordination, reservations, revenue practices, and administrative functions. This structured experience allows interns to see how each department contributes to overall hotel performance and guest satisfaction.
By shadowing leaders and engaging in real-world scenarios, interns develop a broader perspective on decision-making, communication, service standards, and operational flow. The goal is to build practical management awareness while helping interns understand how collaboration across departments drives success.
This rotational model provides a well-rounded foundation in hotel management, preparing interns for future leadership roles while reinforcing the importance of teamwork, professionalism, and service excellence within a large hospitality environment.
Rainforest, Aquarium and other Internships
The Moody Gardens Internship experience introduces interns to the many departments that contribute to our mission and guest experience beyond hotel operations. This part of the program allows interns to work within specialized areas that support daily operations, education, conservation efforts, and visitor engagement across the property.
Interns may be placed in departments including Marketing, Accounting, Sales, Guest Services, Events, Human Resources, Information Technology, Theaters, Conservation, Education, the Aquarium, the Rainforest, and the full-service Spa. Each department offers hands-on exposure to professional workflows, guest interaction, planning, and behind-the-scenes coordination that help bring the Moody Gardens experience to life.
Working alongside experienced leaders and teams, interns gain practical insight into how diverse departments operate individually while contributing to shared organizational goals. This experience emphasizes collaboration, professionalism, and service within a large, multi-faceted destination.
Through these internships, participants develop a stronger understanding of organizational structure, operational support, and mission-driven work — building a foundation that prepares them for future careers in hospitality, attractions, conservation, business operations, and related industries.
